Day 2 Giveaway: Topo Athletic Runventure shoes

Topo Athletic Runventure Review***Giveaway entry form at bottom of post***

Topo Athletic offers all of the wonderfulness of a lightweight, minimalist running shoe but with the burliness and traction needed to handle roots, rocks, mud, snow and other mountain-induced obstacles.

Tony Post launched Topo Athletic in 2012. Prior, he was the CEO of Vibram USA, best known for the FiveFingers shoes. No coincidence then that he’d be the one to figure out both what’s great about minimalist shoes, and also how they can be improved.

Topo Athletic offers road, gym and trail running shoes. The options in the trail running category are the MT, Oterro and the new Runventure.

Here at Garage Grown Gear we’ve tested both the MT and Runventure, and can’t say enough about how much we love these shoes. We wear our MT on buffed out trails and dirt roads, and save the Runventure for truly rocky, uneven terrain. (One of the things that makes the Runventure different from the MT is a midsole plate for rock protection.)

I would love to try the Runventure Topo Athletic shoe! Looks strong, yet comfortable; perfect for the trails!

    • Shannon,

“strong but comfortable” … that’s a great description for what I’ve experienced as I’ve tested them out for the last month or so.

  2. I have the Vibram FiveFinger shoes and love the minimalist freedom and comfort but would love a little more support that the Runventure offers!

    • Vanessa,

That’s how I felt about my Altras … the most comfortable things I’d ever put on, but just not quite enough for those long runs over the Tetons and sharp and loose rocks. The Runventure is perfect for more rugged conditions.

      Amy

  3. I have not tried Topo Athletic shoes, but I like the sound of the Runventures, as they seem like they would be more comfortable than many trail shoes but more rugged than most running shoes.

  4. I have not but they look like great shoes. The Runventure looks like a great trail shoe.

If I win, I would love to try The MT. Cute and wide. My feet are wider than duck’s feet. It is a challenge for me to find a comfortable shoe and usually have to get a men’s shoe.

    • Diane,

Topo Athletic does a very good job with building the soles to mimic our feet’s natural splay. The toe box in particular is wider than on most shoes.

  6. Haven’t tried them, but it’s perfect trail running season here in Colorado! I’d probably try the MT, but the Fli-Lyte looks cool, too. Would love to check them out – thanks for the great giveaway! 🙂

  7. I’ve never run in Topo Athletic. I am a road runner (ran my first marathon last weekend!) but would love to add more trail running. The MT or Runventure sound perfect to try out.

  8. I would love to try the runventures!

  9. I havent tried them yet but have read a few good reviews and would love to try them. I need a new pair of sneakers for the spring summer season. Id love to try the womens oterro

  10. These look so cute and comfortable! I love the colorful gaiters too!

    • Karen, the gaiters are from Dirty Girl Gaiters … another company we heartily recommend! (But be careful what you type into Google).

  11. Haven’t tried these yet, but would love to try the MT shoes.

  12. I’m not a runner but my husband certainly is, and he recently began to prefer minimalist shoes. I think I’d love to try the Oterro shoes for trail runs and hikes.

  13. I would love the try the Oterro for women.

  14. I haven’t tried Topo shoes yet. They look great! I like the Fli-Lyte and the Trail MTs.
